I love going somewhere new and exploring so when I heard that there was a good market in Wanganui every Saturday morning we thought we’d head over. It runs from 9am – 1pm and is down by the river (off Taupo Quay). It’s both a craft market and farmers’ market.
However, there was a quick detour on the way! The garage sales around us have been pretty scarce recently so when I saw one advertised for this Saturday that specifically mentioned material I definitely had to pop in. It was worth it – I got some lovely green and white floral fabric which will look great made up into summer dresses.
The market was well worth a visit . The day was sunny and the location very scenic with a great boardwalk running along the river.
A water course along the pavement – water that can be touched is always a winner with my girls!
Some beautiful buildings to keep the grown ups happy!
Where better to strike a pose than the main street on a Saturday morning? (I turned around and she was primping and preening in the window with her hat and sunnies on!)
Then back to the market for lunch – delicious crepes from dotto’s crepes.
The grown ups had savoury and the littlies had sweet, with a couple of waffles thrown in for free, and a coffee from the nearby stall all in all it was a perfect lunch! The end result?
We’ll definitely be going back and next time we’d like to go on the old paddle steamer, Waimarie, and head up the Whanganui river. There’s also an amazing pohutukawa tree we’d like to climb again. It’s in the Moutoa Gardens opposite the public toilets – really if you’re in Wanganui go and look it’s the biggest we’ve ever seen and took all 4 of us!
